“How might we enable landlords to simplify their accounting operations?”

My Role: UX Designer
Project Type: Design Challenge
Tools: Figma
Responsibilites: Visual Design, Interaction Design, Personas, Competitive Analysis

Despite what many may believe, being a landlord isn’t just a free ticket to retirement. Between security deposits, repair and legal fees, insurance, mortgage, utilities, and rent payments, the burden of property expense management can amount to quite the headache for small landlords.

In this project, it was my goal to design an application aimed at streamlining the expense management process for landlords and their staff.

Final Thoughts

This was my first time doing a 48-hour design challenge. Due to extreme time constraints, I was not able to engage in every step of the design solution process that I would have liked. If I was given more time, I definitely would have wanted to test my designs, both web and mobile, with targeted user groups. If I had done so, I would have been able to get feedback on reviewing a transaction, which was an interaction that I was not 100% confident in creating due to my lack of familiarity with expense managment software and protocols. Overall, this experience was extremely fun and challenging - this project actually landed me the job at JP Morgan!
